What you’ll experience
Try snowshoeing for the first time in the foA winter evening walk through the forest by torchlight, with a campfire stop for hot chocolate and marshmallows. The contrast between the flames, the snow, and the dark forest makes this a quintessential Norwegian winter experience.rest just 20 minutes from central Oslo. We’ll walk across a frozen lake and through snowy woodland trails – no experience necessary.
We meet at the tiger statue outside Oslo Central Station as the afternoon light fades, and take the metro together to Sognsvann. The ride takes 20 minutes.
At Sognsvann, we walk to a campfire spot by the frozen lake. I’ll have a fire going, and we’ll sit together with hot chocolate and marshmallows while I share stories about the area and Norwegian winter traditions.
Once we’ve warmed up, I’ll hand out flame torches and give a quick safety briefing. Then we set off into the forest. Walking with a torch in your hand, surrounded by snow-covered trees and the glow of flames, is something you don’t easily forget.
The walk takes about 30–45 minutes through the winter woodland. Afterwards, we return to Sognsvann station and take the metro back to the city centre.
Season: 1 December – 31 March.
