What you’ll experience
A gentle walk around Sognsvann lake followed by a barbecue in the forest. This is how Norwegians spend their summer evenings – and you’re invited.
We meet at the tiger statue outside Oslo Central Station and take the metro to Sognsvann. The ride takes just 20 minutes, and when you step off the train, you’re immediately surrounded by forest.
Sognsvann is one of Oslo’s most popular spots for swimming, walking, and simply being outdoors. We’ll walk around the lake – a flat, easy path of about 2 km – before heading into the woods to a campfire site.
There, I’ll get the fire going and we’ll grill sausages together, Norwegian style. I’ll also bring marshmallows and some traditional Norwegian snacks. While we eat, I’ll share a bit about the Norwegian relationship with nature and why “koselig” (cosy) moments like this are so important here.
After the barbecue, we walk back to the station and take the metro to the city centre.
Season: 1 May – 30 September.
