Blueberry Walk with Lunch

What you’ll experience

A short walk into the forest to pick wild blueberries, followed by a packed lunch at one of Oslo’s best viewpoints. A taste of Norwegian summer in a few relaxed hours.

We meet at the tiger statue outside Oslo Central Station and take the metro to Vettakollen. The ride takes about 20 minutes.

From the station, we walk uphill into the forest. In late summer, the forest floor here is covered with wild blueberry bushes – and in Norway, everyone has the right to pick them (it’s called “allemannsretten”, the right to roam). We’ll spend about an hour picking and eating berries straight from the bush.

Afterwards, we walk a short distance uphill to Vettakollen – a hilltop viewpoint with a panoramic view of Oslo and the fjord. We’ll sit down here and enjoy a packed lunch while taking in the scenery.

When we’re ready, we walk back down to the station and take the metro to the city centre.

Tip: Bring a small container if you’d like to take some blueberries home with you.

HikeOslo gave us an unforgettable adventure. Small group hikes, knowledgeable guides, and incredible views at every stop. Watching the Northern Lights after a long hike was something I’ll never forget.
