What you’ll experience
A short walking tour through Oslo’s main Christmas market at Spikersuppa, where I’ll introduce you to Norwegian Christmas traditions, local food, and the cosy atmosphere of a Nordic winter.
We meet at the tiger statue outside Oslo Central Station and walk together along Karl Johans gate – Oslo’s main street – towards the Christmas market at Spikersuppa, next to the National Theatre.
The market runs from November through early January and brings together local vendors selling traditional Norwegian food, warm drinks, woollen clothing, and handmade crafts. There’s also an ice skating rink and a small amusement park with rides.
As we walk through the market, I’ll tell you about how Norwegians celebrate Christmas – from the food we eat to the traditions we keep. You’ll have time to browse the stalls, try some local treats (gløgg, roasted almonds, or a warm waffle), and soak in the atmosphere.
If you’d like, we can sit down by one of the fire pits with something warm to drink while I share more stories about Christmas in Norway.
The tour ends at the market, or I can walk you back to the tiger statue if you prefer.
